The newer California flower remedies and Australian flower remedies work in a similar way using suitable local wild plants for their treatments. In Persia and India, the rose has been used to garnish and flavor food for thousands of years. It is mentioned in the first-century Greek cookbook Banquets for the Learned. In Arabic countries, the rose is used to flavor every type of dish from soups and savory courses cooked with dried rose buds, to honey-layered pastries and Turkish delight. Orange flower water from the orange blossom is also used throughout the Middle East in a wide range of delicately flavored dishes.
