Fayol’s ideas are blending of humanism and social awareness with efficiency that is required for conducting business operations. Taylor, on the other hand, concentrated on raising the efficiency that is required for conducting business operations. Taylor, on the other hand, concentrated on raising the efficiency at the shop floor Human and behavioral aspects were ignored by him while formulating his theory. Fayol’s thoughts are relevant mainly to top level management. On the other hand, Taylor concentrated mainly on improving the management of the jobs. Application of Fayol’s theory is wider in its scope when compared to that of Taylor’s Scientific Management. Fayol’s concentrated mainly on improving overall administration by observing certain principles, whereas Taylor’s Scientific Management focuses mainly on increasing production. However, there is no contradiction between the work of Taylor and Fayol. Both of them applied scientific methods to the management problems. Their work was essentially complementary.
