THE CARPENTER

The carpenter is a person who makes things such as furniture from wood. He is one of the workers who help us in building our houses. His job is called carpentry. He is a craftsman in building our houses. His job is called carpentry. He is a craftsman in wood work especially of rough solid kinds as in ship or house building. The carpenter makes chairs, tables, cots, admirals and carts and ploughs for the farmers in villagers. They help builders make doors, Windows and their frames, beams for the roof etc.

He must have a lot of tools for his work. He has various kinds of saws to cut the wood into different Sizes. He uses hand saw, hacksaw etc. He uses sharp chisels and axes to cut wood. He makes the wood smooth with a plane. To make different shapes in the wood he uses a lathe machine. He uses hammer and nails to fasten pieces of wood together. It is a good thing to take pride in one’s occupation. An honest, clever and hard working carpenter can take an honest pride in making good, solid and beautiful things. There has been a famous carpenter in history. It was Jesus Charest, the founder of Christianity. He was the carpenter of Nazareth, a little town in North Palestine. Christ said ‘Take my yoke upon you and learn of me ….For my yoke is easy and my burden is light’ By taking his yoke’ he meant accepting his teaching.
