Man proposes, God disposes

Human beings carry on with their daily normal routines in the hope that they would yield normal results. Though there is no guarantee, the chains of events go on more or less in the expected lines. In more complex courses of action, however, the actors themselves are unsure of the final outcome. The fact is that is not easy to predict the end result if numerous factors, both direct and indirect, are involved. Newspapers report about indirect, are involved. Newspapers report about missile tests going awry; an educated man betraying his wife and kids and running away with a prostitute; a mighty nation suffering humiliating defeat at the hands of a small country. These events are inexplicable by normal human logic. Man is reminded every moment of his limitations. Uncertainty looms large all the time. Whether one sincerely believes in god or not, during helpless and unreliable times man’s natural tendency is to attribute final outcome of events and endeavors to God, as the controller of the universe. Man’s thoughts and deeds are described as mere proposals subject to the final disposal by God.
