The Scalar Chain: It refers to the chain of command from the top to the bottom of an organisation, the delegation and dispersal of authority, and unity of command which is maintained when a subordinate reports to one immediate senior alone. The rationale of these related principles is to have a vertical hierarchical arrangement with authority flowing downward from the top of the management hierarchy.
