Satellite Internet

Buzz Me

Hi guys! I recently saw the website of an internet provider called Wildblue. They are satellite internet service providers who can reach most people in the United States. This kind of service is ideal for people living in remote, sparsely populated areas. My guess would be that people living in these types of communities probably account for the vast majority of dial up users in 2010. It's good that there are options for people who live away from DSL, cable, and wireless high speed connections. In today's world, high speed internet is more of a need than a luxury. Especially for kids - those rural kids who grow up without the ability to surf the internet with a connection fast enough for videos will fall behind kids in more populated areas. They will be behind in education, and they will be at a disadvantage in tomorrow's workplace. Dial up just doesn't cut it anymore. I have an internet horror story from the days of dial up. I remember day trading in 1998, putting a trade, and watching the market move against my position.
I tried to sell, and would have lost maybe $250. Instead, I lost over $1,000 because the dial up connection was disconnected, and it took time to re connect. I remember feeling anger, frustration, stress, and helplessness as I watched the market sink while being unable to send my sell order. So I'm really glad that everyone can have the choice to get high speed internet. Thanks.
