Buzz Me

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

This condition, sometimes referred to as Moneymaker sclerosis, affects the muscular coats of medium-sized peripheral and superficial arteries and is responsible for the pipe-stem arteries commonly found in old age, e.g. in the radial arteries and the vessels to the lower limbs. Calcification of the media is the characteristic change. Since there is little or no narrowing of the lumen the condition is of little clinical significance. It plays no part no part in the etiology of health hypertension.
