During convalescence the general symptoms and signs of anemia may be present. During recovery red cells are formed more rapidly than hemoglobin and the color index and MCHC fall. New red cell formation is reflected by the appearance of a temporary reticulations of 5-10 per cent and there is anisotropic, and a leukocytes of 10-15,000 per c.mm. Diagnosis depends upon the finding of a blood picture of hypochondriac anemia and the discovery of a source of chronic haemorrhoid.
