While some meat-eaters still believe that vegetarianism is an unhealthy fad, a major British study has established that health vegetarians have a 40 per cent lower risk of dying from cancer, compared to meat-eaters. This is the first study to investigate the correlation between a vegetarian diet and cancer risk. And remember to wash from meat, poultry board and your hands when you move between those groups.
Unpasteurized juices call for particular care, because just a few bad apples can infect an entire batch. (Produce with a rind or high acid content seems to be relatively safe, but even orange juice has on occasions, caused health food poisoning). To keep any bacteria from multiplying, treat overspecialized juices like ice cream; don’t let them get warm.
