A bush or small tree with cylindrical stem, it grows to a height of about 15-30 ft. and has ample latex producing ducts. It has broad ovate or nearly orbicular leaves, more or less deeply 3-5 lobed, rough above and pubescent below, fruit ancillaries, usually pear shaped, variable in size and color.
