Cancer of the colon is the second biggest type of cancer after cancer of the lung. In the U.S.A. Alone 70,000 new cases of colon cancer are reported every year. It is thought that the faucet matter lying in the colon for long periods and also the pressure in the colon might be the cause of cancer of the colon, especially as cancer of the colon is very rare in rural Africa where the transit time of bowel movement is relatively more rapid. So it would appear that cancer of the colon might be avoided by keeping to a high fiber diet.
